Bespoke Furniture - Fitted furniture designed and made - Free standing furniture designed only or designed and made

Over the course of the past 18 months we have designed and made over thirty pieces of bespoke furniture all to suit each clients tastes and needs. The timbers used have included Oak, Ash, Mahogany, Walnut , Beech and Maple, we have also constructed kitchen work tops in Teak and Iroko and doors in various timbers mentioned above.

The workshops are well equipped to deal mainly with solid timber construction and we firmly believe as a business that were possible well seasoned good quality timber should be used. We seek to produce collectable furniture that will last and age well into the future. Further to this it is our belief that a piece of furniture must last at least as long as it took a tree to grow to produce it.

All furniture is designed by Robbie Reid, his main influences coming from two main areas, proportion from oriental furniture of all ages particularly the Chinese where detail to the unseen joints was as important as the pieces over all look. Secondly from his families past history in Cabinet making through Whytock & Reid where attention to quality was the main stay.

Maple Occassional Table

The table was designed for a kitchen/hall area to match the design of a small cabinet built earlier in the year with burr maple drawer front.

Walnut Coffee Table

The coffee table was copied from a Chinese footstool design from the 16th century.Made in Walnut with mitred joints. The Chinese generally used mitred joints as they did not like to expose the end grain of timber.

Walnut Console Table

We have built two of these in the past year, the design is based on a Chinese sideboard which was originally made in brass. The design is very much suited for hallways or in the dining room as a sideboard. A matching extendable dining table and drinks cabinet where built to match this piece.

This table designed by Hepple Furniture in Edinburgh and made in our workshops can be seen in their showrooms along with many other designs designed and made by us.

Nest of Tables in Beech and Burr Elm

overall size 400mm x 400mm x 620mm high

The design was based on tables that Whytock & Reid produced through out all of last century although the stretchers have been straightened on this design to give it a more contemporary look.
